What is Hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy uses hypnosis to assist people in improving their lives. Its goal is to heal and create a better life, while ‘Stage Hypnosis’ goal is to entertain. Hypnotherapy is also different than the false myths shown in movies or television.

In Hypnotherapy,

You are in control. It is NOT possible for a person in hypnosis to be forced to do anything he or she doesn’t want to do. You always make the decisions and decide what you wish to do or say. Feel free to ask any questions you wish during a session.

You are not sleep or unconscious. You are conscious and will remember the session, but you will be in a “heightened state” of consciousness. This is very similar to feeling “zoned” out while driving or watching television. It is as if your conscious mind is now in the back seat, while the subconscious mind is in the driver’s seat. The back seat driver may still have something to say! Either way you are still aware (sometimes hyper-aware).

You may not feel different. Or you may feel heavy, light, or tingly. Your body may feel asleep with your mind awake. Or relaxed. Either way, you get results.

You won’t be asked to quack like a duck. This type of hypnosis is only in movies and stage hypnosis shows. You won’t be asked to do anything like this in hypnotherapy. There is no personal healing value to this.

Almost everyone can be hypnotized. If you intelligence is above 70 IQ (above mental retardation) and you want to be hypnotized, you can be. If you don’t want to be hypnotized, a hypnotherapist cannot force this on you.

You will always “Wake up”. You aren’t asleep in a session. Your conscious mind still is still alert, although in a “neutral” state, and can handle any emergency or other situation if needed. You can’t “get stuck” in a trance.

Use your imagination! Your subconscious mind works very well with images, suggestions, visualizations, and metaphors. We will use these in the interactive part of the session. Let your mind be creative and optimize your results!

Hypnotherapy uses the power of your own mind to help you accomplish your goals.
